A Tri-Tip with Tee's M-3 marinade
« Reply #-1 on: October 15, 2012, 10:02:33 AM »
Tee sent me some M-3 to try and told me how he makes the marinade. Well here goes my first try at it.

Trimmed up Tri-Tip

Into the bag with some of the M-3 marinade.

Have not decided if I will smoke it or grill it. That will depend on the rain stopping sometime today.

Input?....GRILL IT!!!

If you smoke it - I fear it may be dry. Of course, I have not smoked one yet...SO hopefully others ( especially the West Coast Gang :D ) will chime in Ron.

But I can tell you that if you will hot grill it - internal temp to 115F - then foil wrap, and towel it until the internal temp rises to 125F - it may become your new favorite!

Just my experience with Tri-Tip and this particular rub/marinade...... ;D

I have smoked several before and have grilled them too.

Now that the rain has gone away and the sun is out it is looking like grilling it.

Tee, do you wash off the marinade before grilling?

Nah...I kind of dab off any of the really heavy stuff - but - I leave some of it on there. Makes for a nice "bark" sort of exterior. Not crusty - just a flavor layer.

This cook has been put off until tomorrow due to a very late lunch, the sammies at Mid-Town Deli on Woodruff Road are killers.

Oh My God Was this Good. Tee you have hit a home run on the M-3....you got 4 thumbs up here on a 26 hours soak. I did wash it off due to the long soak and it was outstanding.

On the grill

Just pulled

Sliced up and ready

What was left after the first round....nothing was left after the second round

No plated pics cause it was a grab it if you can feast.
