Meatzabolli Pies
« Reply #-1 on: June 26, 2016, 12:16:59 PM »
These are really good and easy.
Coat an ovenproof bowl inside and out with olive oil.  Line bowl with your favorite cheese, I use Provolone slices.  Add your ingredients, I used Rosemary smoked Italian meatballs, pizza sauce, peppers, onions, pepperoni, green olives and topped with shredded moz.  Cover bowl with your favorite pizza dough, bake at 425* until crust is golden brown.  (About 25 minutes)  I used fresh cut Rosemary twigs for smoke on the fire and a couple up above.

Bob - those look absolutely awesome!

And -to preserve this idea and your recipe - THANKS for including the "how to" make these...- I am moving this to the recipes section for Pork Recipes....and a Post in the Beef recipes - with a link to it, because meatballs can be either...or both!

Yeah...I know..this one is a challenge to categorize..It's a pizza - in a casserole type dish...and a pie crust on top. :D Any suggestions on a better location for this - so that we can find it when needed? If left in "General Discussions" it will get buried, and lost....

It is almost a....Strombolli casserole....?

I see your point. I wouldn't call it a pork recipe though personally as he's not telling you what to put in it. I call it Pizza! The question is, what does Bob call it? :P I call it delicious :)

I would consider it pizza casserole.  Actually a pizza pot pie.  It's baked, the meatballs had both pork and beef in them.
And yes, they are delicious and easy.  Same technique is used for chicken/turkey pot pies.
I once made a burnt ends pot pie, that was a little over the top.  Burnt ends, BBQ sauce, mac & cheese.

It was brought to our attention that the forum needed another thread section to locate this recipe in a more appropriate location - your response and definition is most helpful. Thank you - please see the new section titled: Cooked In A Dish
