Bison Burgers
« Reply #-1 on: June 28, 2016, 07:15:15 PM »
Got some ground bison at Costco and decided to make some burgers.  First, I made some homemade burger buns from a recipe I found on this site.  (Turned out great.)  I added some salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce to the ground bison.  Then separated the meat to make three different burgers - two 8oz patties mixed with bleu cheese for the wife and I, two 6oz patties mixed with cheddar cheese and bacon for the 12 year old (she only ate half), and 3 4oz plain patties for the 3 and 5 year olds.  Used the griddle on my MAK for the burgers and then grilled some onions in the remaining burger juice.

Would you take bison over beef if it were more easily available?

I personally, do not taste any real difference in the 2...but I will always buy bison when I can afford ;) get it - because nutritionally it is just plain better for you. More Omega 3s and lower in bad fats and cholesterol....

Costco always has ground bison available (at least the one by me does).  I probably will cook more bison burgers knowing how good they turned out.
