Banned from potlucks.....
« Reply #-1 on: July 04, 2016, 03:03:54 PM »
Unless I bring these:
1 can each baby butter beans, black beans, dark red and light red kidney beans, drained
2 cans Bush's original baked beans undrained
1 lb diced bacon, browned and drained
1 lb hamburger browned with 1 large onion and 2 cloves garlic, drained
1 lb smoked sausage
1 c ketchup
1/4 c brown sugar
1/4 c cider vinegar
1 T liquid smoke
1 T dry mustard
2 T worcestershire (Lea and Perrin's)
1 t salt
1 t garlic salt
1/2 t cayenne pepper
1/2 ground white pepper
Combine all in a large crock pot and cook on low for at least 4 hrs.
I have also added smoked rib trimmings, tasso or pork sausage at times depending on what I have on hand. You really can't go wrong with adding whatever you like to these. Got the basic recipe from a high school band cookbook and modified it to suit me.
If you want some for tomorrow best take 'em out of the pot before you leave because you won't be bringing any home!

Hey TF, that's very similar to the recipe I've been using from Slawsagirl right at two years ago.

I've got several family members who eat no other baked beans than these.  Going to have to try adding the extra meats ! ! !
