Christmas Eve Appetizers
« Reply #-1 on: December 18, 2017, 07:39:20 PM »
We typically have a seafood dinner on Christmas Eve since my wife is Italian.  This year we wanted to make it simpler so wanted finger seafood such as appetizers.  We have thought such things as clams casino, shrimp, etc.  With all the knowledge out there on this site, I wondered what suggestions others have with some recipes.  I know there are some good ones out there, so any help would be appreciated.

I do the cooking of the 7 fishes on Christmas eve where most is apps, followed by linguine and clams in Algio E Olio sauce (garlic oil parsley).

My usual items include, stuffed calamari, clam cakes (similar to casino), whole roasted branzino, mussels marinara, shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon.  I usually mix it up for the last few depending on mood or requests.  I have done Oyster rockefeller, crab stuffed mushrooms, seared tuna, I am doing grilled octopus this year.

Below are some links to previous recipes, topics.  Sorry for the lack of Photos, but photobucket no longer works, if you have any questions or want pictures I will add attachments for now until life slows down to find another site, which isn't happening anytime soon.

One year, my father-in-law sent my wife and I fresh Maine Lobsters, that we smoked and finished on our pellet grill and then thoroughly enjoyed eating with our bare hands! You could get some lobster tail from a local fish monger and smoke them and then grill them up.

We ended up with overkill including the following:
Crab Cake Bites
Shrimp Egg Rolls
Snow Crab Legs
Stuffed Calamari with tomato sauce
Tomato sauce with linguini, shrimp, calamari, clams, and crab claw meat
Marinated grilled Shrimp
Cheese cake with brandy marinated cherries

Sorry, no pictures, so I know it did not happen, but I am overstuffed today.

I am going to do a prime rib roast using the Slow n Sear method.  Good eats.
