Gun Club Cook, Part 1
« Reply #-1 on: April 11, 2013, 02:13:51 PM »
Once a quarter the gun club I belong to has a dinner paid for and provided by the club.  The last time we had a dinner, I got volunteered to buy everything we needed because I have a friend who owns a BBQ restaurant.  I was trying to live within a budget, but ended up exceeding it slightly.  Don’t get me wrong, the BBQ was really good, but I thought I could do better, and cheaper.  Tonight I am serving pulled pork, pulled chuck roast, baked beans from Tee’s recipe that I tasted at the Fall Gathering last year, and not one, but two Coon Hunter sheet cakes.  Someone else is making the coleslaw for me.  I baked one of the Coon Hunter cakes the last time and it disappeared quickly.  Not everyone got to taste it.  In fact, several of the guys were running their fingers around the cake dish to get the last icing and cake crumbs and then asking me to send them the recipe so their wives could make it at home.  I figured that two cakes would be a good way to not run out this time.

Now, on with the show.  I’ll do this in two parts.  Too many pictures for one post.  This will be a Sparky Edition (i.e., Non-Talky).  The following pictures are just of the pork butts.

See you in Part 2.
