and your post got me to thinking....up until a year and a half ago, I would grill and smoke for my parents every weekend........sure wish I could have one of those weekends back.....

I was thinking the same thing here.  I live too far away and when I was in Ohio, would go to my dads quite often to grill out with him.  Sure wish I had learned more while he was around.  He knew his flavor profiles.  That would come in handy now as I try my hand at this grilling.  He never had a chance to try my smoke attempts.... Cherish the times you have!

Priceless!!

I have pics of my dad cooking chicken over an open pit back in the early 50's.  With 6 kids to feed on a small income, about the only thing I remember him cooking outside was burgers and dogs.
I never got to share my bbq experiences with him...
