CDN Bluetooth and Maverick ET-735 for $30
« Reply #-1 on: October 23, 2016, 02:29:02 PM »
Yep, you got it, I picked up both of these bluetooth thermometers for Thirty Dollars at a going out of business sale yesterday and I a not at all happy with the deal.

Smoking a pork shoulder overnight so I figure that would make for a good test.

The bluetooth range on both is terrible.  Straight line is about 60 feet.  Once in the house I would loose connections on both with the CDN being worse.

Bottom line:  I spent too much money on both of them.
I am happy with my years old ET 732 where I never loose a connection in the house.
I never turn it off and batteries last forever it seems.

I also have been using a Rock's Stoker for some years for monitoring and controlling pellet grills through a Savannah Stoker Controller, Lang stick burner (sold) and an Acorn (given to neighbor).

Art I have the Bluetooth Maverick too. The software does not seem to fully support the hardware. I'm sure Maverick knows about this but they ignore it choosing to work on their next products. That's ok no more Maverick products here! OnlyThermoWorks from now on. Great products and great customer service!

I did not know ThermoWorks had bluetooth or remote temperature units.

I just checked it out and found a ThermoWorks Wireless Pro http://www.thermoworks.com/Smoke and it sounds interesting.
Thanks much for pointing me in that direction.

The Thermoworks smoke will be my next buy. But like you I have 2 sets of Maverick ET-732 for several years and only have had to replace the probes.

As far as the ThermoWorks Smoke goes I just read the following on line.

"Thermoworks is working on the Smoke Gateway, a WiFi link and app that add on to the Smoke. The Smoke Gateway will connect the Smoke to your WiFi network, transmitting the temperature to the app on your phone, no matter where you go. This is it. We’re living in the future."

Now that's what I want when I am not using my Rock's Stoker.
