Title: NEW PRODUCT!
Post by: teesquare on April 07, 2012, 07:32:32 PM
We have just recently reconfigured BBQ SAVOR -- and all of our products -- to help prevent dusting and to lengthen shelf life, without adding any junk!

Ron D and others have used these products before, and after the product update he has voiced his approval! These changes will not affect the usage or taste, it just made them even better!

BBQ SAVOR is one product in our line that many of you may overlook because it does not make "big claims" like many products in the marketplace.
Let me assure you that the taste is far bigger than any fancy labeling can justify!

A little history about this rub:

I started making it (and some others) many years ago, while competing in BBQ. It did me quite well. While my job situation forced me to stop competing, some folks that you may have seen in major competitions (or even on T.V. ;) ) asked me to continue to make some rubs for them to use in competitions.

Due to privacy agreements, I can't tell you a lot about that -- but I can tell you that the BBQ SAVOR is NOT a high salt product. Most rubs use salt as the largest percentage ingredient. If you want more salt, you can add that cheaply enough. But why buy expensive "flavored salt" for your quality BBQ?
And -- there are NO glutens of any kind (wheat, soy, corn), NO MSG, NO nuts, no known allergens of any kind. NO artificial stuff. Period.

The flavor profile was developed to be a balanced approach to the flavors present in BBQ beef or pork that consistently get high marks.

As with all of our products, the 5 forms of taste are of primary importance in this product: sweet, salty, sour, bitter ... and umami.
Umami is Japanese for "savory."In many foods that have this taste component, the manufacturer achieves it via the addition of certain amino acids and glutamates. The most famous (or infamous ;) ) of these is MSG. We don't use it -- and will never use it -- because some folks are sensitive to it.

Now, for the REAL secret...

This product -- BBQ SAVOR, as well as CHICKEN SAVOR -- can be used 3 distinct ways:

1. Rub it on, give it a few minutes, and grill. Great taste and no wait.

2. Rub it on, put it in a zip lock or vacuum bag, and leave it in the fridge for up to 3 days. Then grill, or smoke, or cook on the stove in a pan for "all the way thru" flavor -- without being salty tasting!

3. If you pan sauté, add a small amount of moisture about halfway thru cooking (water, or white wine with the CHICKEN SAVOR, or even a light beer with the BBQ SAVOR) and additional tablespoon or two of the rub -- and the SAVOR makes it's own finishing sauce!

So, here is the web address for you -- if you want to try any of the first 4 products (more to follow!) :)

Thanks muebe!

smoke - they are "tweaked" for different priorities. They are slightly different to adjust for the outdoor cooking market - and for the indoor market.

Nothing drastic, and - you may not even notice the difference! ;)

I will have to say that the new style of rubs is as good in taste but better in use than the older rubs. Less caking and better hold onto the meat. I have some of both chicken and will do a side by side cook this week when I am off Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks Ron!
Aand anything that shows the dusting as welll...

One other note - we have changed our sealing of the bottles to a heavier duty seal. We found that the type we were using was not always sealing 100%.

So are the redneck rubs marketed towards the outdoor cooker??
Title: Re: NEW BANNER! NEW PRODUCT!

Yep!

I always get a "red-neck" from sunburn when I cook outdoors - so....the name ;D.  "Redneck" in this case has nothing to do with anything else.

Heck - I am happy to be called a "redneck" - it just means I have been working outdoors. ( The origination of the terms meant JUST that!)

Anxious to try the new cough less product because it is so good.  I made 2 pounds of bacon yesterday with the Bacon Savor. As good as bacon is, this brings it up several notches.  Good Job!  Phil

Got a well packaged -4- pack of T's Redneck Rubs last week and I will be giving them a workout over the next few weeks.
I just think the labels are too cool...easy to see what you are grabbing!! I also like that the rub is packed tightly all the way to the top....no 'settlin" which I have always thought meant "We just didn't fill the jar all the way"  ::)
I don't write real fancy but I will let y'all know what I think of these rubs.......

Oh, and look who thinks they were sent to him..............

I used to be a strong advocate of making your own rubs but now that I've used T's & Phil's blends I'm convinced I've found rubs equal to or better than mine. IMost commercial rubs contain way too much salt for my liking which is why I used to blend my own. That's not an issue with these rubs!

Dang!!!

I saw where this post was started a year ago.  I just noticed these rubs recently (since joining this forum actively).  I have been using Mo' Rockin' Chicken for 2 years now and it stays on our kitchen table for everyday seasoning.

Today I ordered 2 bottles each of the BBQ, Steak, & Chicken Savor Spices.  I believe these will add a lot to the foods we cook outdoors this season (no pun intended).

It ain't TendaRub...But i'm bettin' it'll be a whole lot mo' better.

Well, I am looking forward to getting my order even more now that one or more, apparently, have been improved upon.  We use lots of WOW (Steak Savor), FSB (BBQ Savor), and Super Pig (Bacon Savor)!!!  Now that I have hooked my friends and relatives on it, they expect it for Christmas every year.  Mom put WOW in the dressing at thanksgiving and OMG, was that place smelling awesome!

Hey - the rub was YOUR idea....And if it is good enough yet - I will make it available to LTBBQ members - without a fancy label - at a discounted price....Whatcha think?

Will there be interest in "S is for Smoke" Rub 8) ?
Title: Re: NEW PRODUCT!
Post by: smokeasaurus on December 31, 2016, 07:56:44 PM
There should be. "S is for smoke" is a classic Texas style beef rub with a base of Cracked Black Pepper and Sea Salt and a few other ingredients. I tried it on a tri-tip and did a reverse sear and it was amazing. The coarser cut of this rub will hold up to hours of lo and slo smoking and since there is no sugar, it is also a great grilling rub as well for steaks and burgers and chops.

Oh, I wanted to call it "Tee for Texas", so if you ask for it by either name, Tee will whip some up for you  :)

So there you have it, we have whipped up a special beef rub for LTBBQ members............get ya some  8)

Tee, which of the rubs would be considered All Purpose?

Fine Swine and Bovine without a doubt
Title: Re: NEW PRODUCT!
Post by: teesquare on February 11, 2017, 10:32:33 AM
Tee, which of the rubs would be considered All Purpose?

All purpose is a very generous term...

I guess I would ask if you mean all purpose in terms of BBQ flavors? - That would be the Fine Swine and Bovine. But it favors pork and chicken, because it is more of a Kansas City style rub, in that it contains some spices a sugars that give it a mild sweet tone. Because of the sugars, use it over in-direct heat sources to prevent scorching. Mix it with whipped cream cheese - and you have a great dip!

For Chicken, Beef, Pork and Seafood - try the Way Out West Trail Dust. It is composed of dehydrated veggies and herbs and a tiny bit of salt. Almost a health food - ;D no sugars and can take direct grilling without scorching. Mix with plain yogurt, and apply to lamb, beef, pork, or chicken - and it will tenderize AND flavor. Very savory, garden like flavors and aromas. Mix with oil and apple cider vinegar ( see instructions on bottle) ands to marinade steaks and chops. Rub it on an lightly oiled chicken, and roast over charcoal...( Personal favorite  :) )

But - the more specialized rubs like Mo' Rockin' Chicken are interesting too. If you are familiar with the flavors and aromas of Jamaican jerk chicken - what you are smelling and tasting are the heritage of many Jamaican's cultural ancestry - that of their progenitors coming form - or thru - north Africa. Morocco being a large culinary influence in that region, they brought much of that in their forced journey to the New World, including Jamaica. Mo' Rockin Rub is a milder, more broadly enjoyable homage to the flavors of N. Africa.

And...we can't leave out Super Pig - if only for entertainment value :D. It is a shelf stable version of a "Pig Candy" shake on for bacon - originally...*BUT*...this rub has been used on pork ribs as a competition rub, and it has won money ;).

Then....we make many private label products, and are constantly experimenting. The one mentioned by Smoke in a post or two above this one is an example. It will be a beef - or heavy red meat specific rub.

The one thing you can count on is that we focus on never using ingredients that are listed as potential allergens with the FDA/USDA.( No corn, soy, wheat - no glutens of any kind, no nuts of any kind, etc..) We strive to use the freshest ingredients from "clean" sources. And I try to formulate everything with a lower salt content than almost any others out there. You can add more salt if you wish, we just try to focus on flavor and aroma. Salt is the cheapest way to bulk up weight on a product - and reduce the manufacturer's cost.

Well tee, you wrote a book of knowledge for illiterate me.  :)  I'm still fairly inexperienced at the grilling and smoking fun. I run across videos and articles where they say to first apply an AP (all purpose) rub and then apply another more specific rub over that. All I speak is Texican so that sounds Greek to me. Thanks for the heads up on uses for the rubs. Will give some a try.
Title: Re: NEW PRODUCT!

 :D :D :D
You give me too much credit SV ;D...I am just a food geek with a weird set of tastebuds.
Hey there are many ways to make good food - and the few that I might consider "bad"...are someone else's ''perfect"...

But - from a practical standpoint, our tastebuds can only detect a few things at a time, and keep them definable as separate tastes. Not the there is anything wrong with multiple rub applications. What happens is we then interpret all those different flavors as something new as a combination flavor. We all love certain things like that. Example: Bananas and peanut butter - vs- peanut butter and chocolate - vs - chocolate an peanut butter .You taste all of these and you brain identifies them as "familiar" - but it can identify them as separates...and - it can recognize the differences of each combination. And when you combine the 3 elements peanut butter/chocolate/banana - it becomes another different taste signature.

Sometimes , I will apply a little bit of mustard, or mayo - or olive oil to a pice of meat ( the choice is yours - I allow the type of meat to influence which of those I use ...) and then a little salt, cracked black pepper, and maybe garlic and paprika. That is a good basic brisket rub - to me.....and then I may throw some Way Out West for some additional aroma and tastes.

It is all in the fun and creativity that you feel is right.  ;) 8)

If a salt and pepper rub on a brisket is good enough for tee, Coopers and Franklin's its good enough for me.

My wife read your post on the different spices. When she saw they had low salt she gave a thumbs up and said "someone finally gets it. Order some today."  :) :) Of course I said, yes ma'am.   ;) ;)

I was looking into some ideas for a brisket rub with a smoke coming up with some well priced packers.  Your comment above reminded me of the recent recipe I used for brisket - I used kosher salt, smoked Hungarian paprika, cracked black pepper, garlic and actually added some cayenne pepper.  When I did the original smoke, I was not paying close enough attention to the recipe and added the cayenne.  Turns out that was a good mistake to make.  As you mentioned - it added another layer of flavor.

Now, to make a stop by the website to get some ideas...
