Pork prices
« Reply #-1 on: October 06, 2017, 06:21:42 PM »
Read a piece the other day that hog prices are down 28%. Actually lean hogs have been the very worst commodity this year. Big imbalance between supply and demand.

Got a couple of butts yesterday for 99 cents a pound. We don't see that price much here. And got some thick cut bone in chops for $1.88 per pound.

You guys seeing good prices?

I don't buy a lot of pork butts in Houston, but I think they have been hovering around 96 to 99 cents a pound for about the last year. I have seen butts selling  for as low as 79 cents a pound before long holiday weekends.

On a side note, whole packer brisket today in Houston is 1.96/lb. for choice and 3.99/lb. for prime.
