I got the long legs for mine today. I am not sure if I am going to install them yet or not. By looking at these pictures I may run
to Lowe's and get some PVC pipe and use to raise it up. I want to be able to haul it around and with the long legs attached it will make
it a bit harder in my SUV.

Jack, what size PVC should I get. I know the width of the legs are 2 inch. Is 3 inch by 30 inch long about right?

try to find a pipe with an ID as close to 2"ins as you can

I'm going to try squeezing down both some 1½" PVC with a heat stripper gun and see if I can get it to fit the 2" wide
and a piece of steel tubing in the 1½~1¾ and squeeze it down in a vise

Okay... ??? I can cook just about anything Jack, but when it comes to anything mechanical I am lost!  ;) I will wait and see how
yours turns out.

This sounds like a good mod for the flimsy crap OS sells as extended legs. They fail to inform you before you buy that it's not recommended to clean/brush the grate while on cooker.   >:(
And Jack, my cooker was up against a stockade fence in a protected area of the yard too. We had converging storms that day unfortunately. If I can get my OS sealed or maybe by taking the legs off it will take a bend better, anyway if I can improve it I will try to put some conduit extensions on the bugger.

from all the pics of the old smokey does the lid just sit down on the bottom part?  it doesn't fit inside of it?  is it a tight fit?  how do you get the ash out of one?  one of these would be great for bbqing while fishing.  is there a old smokey dealership.  have never seen one in any stores in California.
