I smoked one rack for Mrs. RG on the Smokin-It #3 and I did a rack on the Pit Barrel Cooker. Hers have a newer rub that she's been tinkering with and mine have one of the rubs that came with the PBC (beef & game) and I cooked them for about 3.5 hours and went to check on them to sauce them with a Jack Daniels BBQ sauce I made up this morning and found that they had fallen! Luckily for me, the bar of the charcoal basket kept it from dropping into the coals. I think I got lucky and caught it real soon after it happened. I ended up retrieving them with some tongs and then just applying the sauce and letting it set on the grill grate. Still turned out very good ;)
I am not done there! I also made up some coleslaw and a pot of Brunswick stew, Jalapeno and Bacon Mac & Cheese. Lastly I made up some Texas Toast to go with it all.
No pictures of Mrs. RG's rack, just mine :P Sorry! I was too busy arranging the photo shoot of my plate to worry about her rack. Ribs of course ;)
Take a gander why don't you?

Mighty tasty overall meal.

Glad you saved them! :) Mind if I ask how you hooked them? Which end and how many bones down?
I've never had St. Louis cut or baby backs fall before. Only a full spare...they are heavy though and I slightly over cooked it.

These were fairly large for baby backs, I hooked them on the thickest part 2 bones down. I checked them at 3 hours and when I went back down 20-30 minutes later, I found that they had fallen! They did not seem overdone either, other than getting a little too close to the coals on that one end, they were cooked perfectly!

All of that looks great. I hope the two racks i do tomorrow look that nice. I haven't been totally successful with either of my previous rib cooks. I had great flavor but they just weren't done enough to pull from the bone. I've got whole spares for tomorrow.

I must say, I must find myself to be far more hilarious than the rest of you do, lol. We've made it almost a full 24 hours and no one has commented on my title, #racklivesmatter. Isn't that just a little funny? Come on now! :P :)
Oh well, back to the drawing board, I guess I'll just stick to cooking :P ;D

Seems 2 bones down on the big bone end should have been ok. I'll go 3 if I can though. Maybe that'll help......Also if it worries you do the double hook method. That'll definitely keep'm from falling.

The funny thing is I never noticed the end of the title. Saw "2 racks of ribs" and clicked on the link...lol. But I agree racks DO matter! Wait, are we still talkin about ribs? ;D
See you aren't the only one who cracks their self up.....lol

Thanks! Sometimes I wonder if it's the cooking part I like or the picture taking, lol. Maybe a tie?

I was more concerned about learning Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce recipe.

I learned my lesson, lol. I watched a youtube video of a guy doing baby backs and followed his instructions and his didn't fall.....mine did! Oh well, that's how my luck goes. At least that bar on the basket saved my bacon :)

Just keep in mind any rack lost in the PBC can be sent to my place. Kimmie (my better half) loves meat burnt to a crisp :P :P :P :P :P
To her steak needs to be 180 to 190 IT ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? With a crust

My girlfriend is the same way. Sometimes I overcook meat and she loves it.
