I was at a local eating place the other day and they were selling Steer Butt Tender but only on Saturday night. Can anyone tell me what cut of beef this is and how to cook it.

Somebody spanked the steer...? Until he was "tender"? ;D

Dang I had a really good TendaRub joke!
I thought you were the but expert Tommy?
Seriously my guess they are making these...

"Butt Tender" is the large end of the Beef Tenderloin, usually running around 2-3 lbs each. Most of your big box stores will sell them in pairs in a cryovac pack.
It would command a pretty hefty price in a restaurant if they were featuring the whole butt, less if they were cutting it into steaks.
I'm leaning towards the link that Muebe posted, as I have seen them advertised on a few menu's. TMB, any idea what the price was on that Saturday night dinner?

I think Rummm's reply is correct based on an old, old, old memory of a joint where I used to eat a lot many years ago. They had a "butt tender" in the steak section of their menu and, as I recall, it was served "for two" with separate sides. I never had it but it was a very popular entree there.

Kinda looks like the "catfish" off a pork loin.
