Kabobs On Pit Barrel ?

Using the rack - anyone tried kabobs on their Pit Barrel ?
Just curious if results would be good for kabobs - or would a Weber Kettle be the better play  ?

Only problem I can see is flare ups when you have the lid off to turn the bobs. Maybe you can get the coal basket up higher so you can use less briqs??

Somewhere I saw someone raise the charcoal basket up....And grill in the PBC. Seemed like a cheap - fast way to get more out of one cooker.

I remember someone hung the kabobs on the hooks and had bent the ends of the kabobs so nothing would slip off into the coals.

I make kabobs fairly frequently and have learned the hard way that the stuff you put on them cooks strangely if you put it on the skewer and do it all at once.  My technique is to get the parts ready, then grill them separately to the doneness level I want them to be.  I keep a "cool" area of the grill where I move the done bits to stay warm while I'm finishing the rest.  Once I have the parts cooked to my satisfaction I use tongs and assemble the kabob, placing it back over the hot area just quickly enough to make certain everything is hot for service.  This is a long way of answering your question.  I'd go with the Weber since you have better access to the grates.
