First time poster, 1 successful cook under my belt with the PBC. Great chicken :)
I see several other members used flexible magnets and some used corks for the rod holes to snuff out the lit coals.
I also have a Weber kettle and I used my Ove Glove to lift the charcoal basket from the PBC and placed it in the Weber kettle and snuffed out in it.
Just a suggestion...

That is a good way to do it. I have wood decking so I would put the Weber up tight against the PBC for a real quick transfer.

I have a cement patio and never thought of the wood deck factor. Good call!!

Wood deck here also so a transfer not an option (and I don't have a weber). Great idea though. I use the flexible magnet approach and it really snuffs out quickly.

Have been using the same method myself to snuff out/save charcoal after seeing it suggested by someone (on this very forum I think).

Interesting results yesterday. I put my coal basket on the coal rack of my Weber kettle, all vents closed made sure to have a good seal on the lid around 7pm. Put the dogs out at 10pm before bed and and the kettle thermometer still registered approx. 200F and the lid was hot to the touch. This morning at 5:30am the lid was still warm to the touch and some coals were still burning. The coal basket was about 1/3 still full. I gave up, took the lid off and let the coals burn themselves up. The difference was I used Kingsford Pro for a shorter cook of a 3lb boneless pork loin.
Anecdotal observation is Kingsford Pro is less likely to be snuffed out versus KBB???

I use only Royal Oak briquettes and by using magnets and tin foil in the air intake can always snuff out the coals in about an hour

Where can I find these magnets? Are you guys able to find a big enough one to cover the air intake on the bottom?

Hmm. Any suggestions on what section magnets would be in Lowe's or HD?

One one of our many many trips to Hobby Lobby with my wife ha, I got a package of craft magnets there. The pack has various sizes...so I ended up cutting 2 sections in half for the re-bar holes and took another piece and I slide it against the barrel under the circle damper wheel( not sure how to phrase it)...snuffs it right out....plus the magnet packs are cheap there. Just my .02
