Title: Jerk Spareribs this Weekend
Post by: Kona on July 20, 2016, 10:24:47 AM
I'm shocked I'm actually saying this lol but I'm getting bored with my usual BBQ ribs   :o  I thought I might try something a little different and do some jerk st. louis ribs. I've never done jerk ribs before and thought about just getting some of the Walkerswood paste and go with that and possibly finishing with the Walkerswood BBQ sauce. Just looking to do a simple cook and not wanting to buy a ton of ingredients to make it myself lol. Have any of you don't jerk ribs on your PBC? I've seen the recipe on their site but just looking to go the store bought route.

Walkers wood paste is better than homemade in my opinion . I love jerk flavor anything so I've tried multiple recipes. Always say I shoulda used walkers.

I get like you Kona once in a while want ribs a little different. I don't do much of the jerk since not a great heat lover. Not to take away from your post but you might want to try Greek style ribs sometime I like them for a change. Don

Gordon, Jerk Spareribs are fantastic.  I'm the same way, I love ribs but like trying different flavors, jerk is one of my favorites.  You're right, the Walkerswood paste is about the best.  I have a bottle of the hot & spicy in the fridge.  A little goes a long way.  Plowboys also makes a jerk rub that is very good.  Some of the best ribs I've made I used the rub and smoked as usual, then about 4 hours in I mixed some of the Walkerswood with some pineapple juice and mopped it on the ribs.  Very good.

Here's a link to some country style ribs I did jerk style.

The Shizzle brand is very good also.

Spiceologist makes a very good jerk rub also.  A little pricy but it lasts forever.  Very little salt in them so you're paying for quality spices and not salt.
