McCormick has a great little app on their website that will tell you the age of your spices based on the product code. It's pretty interesting to see how old your lesser-used spices might be. I checked about two dozen jars yesterday and need to get some replacements.

Where does everyone recommend getting their spices for home use?

Mike - couple of things to try before "chucking" any old spices.

1. A med-hot dry pan, place old spices in, and keep them moving - as soon as you really begin to smell them good - take them off the heat and use them.

2. Depending on the spice sometimes you canget one last good gasp out of them by microwaving them for 30 seconds - maybe a bit more...then use them right away.

I  like penzeys or the spice house.   They have the 1/2 size jars of everything for items you don't use often and refill bags for things that you use alot of.
