It's been a couple of painful weeks since the surgery on my left ankle. I was told to NOT put any weight on the left foot for about the next three weeks. This is really hard to do. Thank goodness for ice and good meds. I will be having the stitches removed this Thursday and start PT next Monday. This entire ordeal having to deal with my insurance company has been almost as painful as the surgery. Turns out we (actually my wife) knows more about our coverage than the insurance company. I think I better keep her around.
My wife has been cooking meals since I can't do this right now. She admitted last night that she will be glad when I can start cooking again. The food she has prepared has been good. All my meals have been small meals. I haven't been overly hungry since the surgery. I had my first cup of coffee this morning with breakfast since before the surgery. My wife said this must be a sign that I am on-the-mend. She might be right.
I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this "fun time" in my life. Keep posting those good looking meals and photos. They inspire me to recover sooner.

I guess I didn't notice my pain as much since this is my 14th surgery in 12 years :( Just do as the doctor says you'l be fine!

Wishing you a speedy recovery.
I certainly feel for you. I have had four surgeries in five years and each time it laid me up for about 3-6 months.
It sure gets boring just sitting around.
Good luck.

This ankle surgery thing is serious stuff. Having helped my wife heal from a nasty ankle break last memorial weekend can relate to the efforts needed by someone during the healing process. We wish you as speedy of a recovery as possible. Not sure if the photo comes through but if it does it is to demonstrate the amount of hardware my wife is now the proud owner of. I hope yours was less stressful than hers was.

Not sure why I didn't mention it until I saw this picture, but I shattered my ankle 18 years ago falling off of a roof. I don't think about it much now, but one operation followed by 8 weeks in a full leg cast and eventually another surgery to remove the hardware has brought it all back. The part I remember most is that my wife went into labor prematurely (eight weeks early) six days after my accident. All of us made it through the ordeal and are healthy now. I guess that is the part to focus on.
