Hello All,
Been lurking around here and a couple other BBQ/smoking forums for a while and recognize many of the regular posters. Have learned a lot, but still have a long way to go. Probably won't be too active due to having the "pleasure" of owning a 24/7 small business, but can hopefully chime in from time-to-time.
Cooking setup is a Mak 2 Star S/N 3293 (gladly talked into by Mr. BBQ himself when he was at Mak) parked next to a Weber Summit S-470 gasser. Do strictly smoking on the Mak with (reverse) searing, rotisserie work & pizza on the Weber. Often use both simultaneously for large cooks when feeding a crowd. (The Mak warming box is very handy for those.) :)
Very much looking forward to participating in your wonderful & informative forums. Thank you for having me!

Welcome from northern Cali. Love Odd Ball.

Welcome from Lincoln CA! What part of NorCal do you live in? With your MAK serial number, I am guessing you bought it right around the time I bought mine... early 2017?

Thank you guys very much for the hospitality! (Should've known a couple Southern boys would be first to chime in, huh?)
Yo' Sparky - don't know what city/town you're in, but we're in Redding and, just FYI, up here we consider "real" NorCal to be north of Sacto & the Bay (aka, the State of Jefferson), so hope you're up here too. Which, of course, includes Lincoln... right rwalters?
With all the BBQ & smoking fans in these parts, one question I have is why is the only competition BBQ event around is in Susanville (of all places)? Seems like we should have at least one somewhere in the valley.
Regarding rwalters question - yep, around March 2017 (as I vaguely recall). And oh, BTW, I'm supposed to get a call back from Mak next week about replacing the riveted grease tray with a solid, welded one under warranty. Grease leaking into the cookbox through the rivets has been my only complaint about the Mak, but they've evidently recognized and fixed it.
ronman451 - Thank you for the welcome! Have a great business relationship with a guy in ABQ and hope to get there soon. Maybe you can suggest a "must" place to have a good meal???

Anything above Bay area / San Francisco is northern Cali to me.

I had that very issue... grease leaking through the rivets. I have a welded version now and the issue no longer exists :)
