Title: Chicken legs in SRG?
Post by: Ericd304 on September 02, 2019, 02:52:02 PM
So I am back, slightly changed profile name.

Since my last visit, I have added a second TBE and recently a SRG ($10 for the TBE and $35 for the SRG).  I traditionally cook pork butts (did 2 different cooks with 40lb of pork butts each) but tempted to try the legs with the new SRG.

Any idea on a timeframe for cooking?  Any other suggestions?

Cook time at least for me runs 35 to 40 mins for legs or even wings

I brine before cooking so that may add a few mins

I ended up not brining it.  Just seasoned and put them on.

The chicken stayed on for 50 minutes and skin was crispy.  Meat was moist and had smoke flavor.    That said, I need to add flavor - they were as tasty as I wanted.

Thanks

I try to brine chicken every cook because if I don't there just is not enough flavor.    You can try injection that helps a lot as well
