Mike, they all come from the same general region in Europe, with a tweak here or there for each ethnic group, but...they are ALL good! Peasant food wherever from is always tasty!

Ahron we were out of applesauce so we used apple butter instead. Worked real nice, I actually like it better.

Yep, Latkes. Still make them today. Good Stuff! We serve them with ketchup, apple sauce or sour cream.
They are just plain good with lot's of salt. Good for dinner or breakfast. I like them with a couple of eggs over easy which we may eat at dinner time as we eat much lighter these days at breakfast. Or, just pulling a cold one out of the fridge, salting it and making it disappear.
Our recipe is a little different as we use one onion for one potato. We also use eggs and flour to make the batter adding salt and pepper to taste.
Can't miss. Since we recently purchased a new food processor with a grating tool, this has made preparing the potatoes and onions a lot easier. If you have lots of left overs as we do, we freeze them up in vacuum sealed bags.
These are really nice companions to any meal.
