Title: Reveo meat tumbler problem
Post by: smokendevo on January 15, 2014, 09:26:05 PM
OK I am going to post this here as I can't see a better place to post this....might have been the 3 wines I had but I don't think so  :)

So for those who own one of these and I know there are a few of us here do. Have you experience the lid coming off after a long tumble? Mine started doing it about 6 months ago. Tried to apply cooking oil to the seal so it is softer and seals better. That improved it a bit but I still don't trust it. I have started using my meat lug, placing the Reveo inside just in case it opens and my meat does not go all over the counter.
So if you have solved this problem or have a suggestion fire it my way.
Thanks
Don

Probably a good idea to post this in Amazen Products thread section, and even to PM Todd, and see if he can offer suggestions. I will move it to his section.

I did not know Tod sold Reveo's but I might be wrong. Thought he sold something like them but not the reveo?

I've had it happen a couple times...

I put mine in a big steam table pan for that very reason.  (and prop it up at an angle so the meat isn't beating against the lid)

Not sure…I just thought that because he sells so many of the vacuum tumblers, that he could be our best bet for solving the problem. I probably should have clarified that regardless of brand, I think is most likely to be familiar with 'em. Sorry for the added confusion 'Devo.

No. But the products are extremely similar. I know that Todd has a lot of experience in these. So, it seemed a natural that he may be able to offer advice…. Mine is working well - like yours. And - it is the same model that you have Pam. Love the way these things speed up the marinating process.
But - smoindevo is having an issue that sounds like the one way check valve in the lid ( not the lid seal itself) may be leaking. If possible 'deco - can you check theta part and see it is has anything that is stuck in it? It could be tiny…..but anything that prevents it from getting a perfect seal - could cause it to slowly lose it's vacuum…just a thought.

Tie off an uninflated balloon and seal it in the container.   Draw a vacuum and it should expand. (don't let it pop!)

Put it on the tumbler, and let it roll for a while to see if it deflates again.

LOL   OK  sounds funny but I will try it.

looked at the valve on top and its kind of hard to tell if there is any thing stuck in there. It must come apart but I'm not going to force it.

Tried that Squirt but it never expanded. Hmm (https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-drC89vIMSWA/UTyzab9rf6I/AAAAAAAAGQc/1XnXxFxO5Hs/w37-h15-no/noidea.gif)

I did also this morning... I do have a tumbler from Todd also, to my knowledge the only brand he has ever offered customers is the AGS brand.

Maybe it's not drawing any vacuum at all??

Try a marshmallow..    ;)

I have extra canisters for the tumblers I sell, but not sure if they will work on a Revo?
Anyone have both units, and can let me know?

Can someone take a pic of the Revo seal?
Maybe a guy can make an O-Ring work??

Sometimes pepper gets stuck in the seal, and it leaks.  I've had to remove the seal and clean it really well

Thanks todd
I think your canisters are bigger just from looking at them. Today when I was fooling with it I had it sitting on the floor and put some weight into putting the lid on. After the test that squirt asked me to do I had a real hard time getting the lid off.
I will give that ring/seal a really good cleaning and see what happens.
Thanks again
