Pappy made me do it
« Reply #-1 on: July 09, 2014, 08:36:22 PM »
I have only ever cooked Brats one way.. Straight on the grill. They always split and were kinda dry. Never thought about Beer Brats.. I'm hooked now Pappy, don't tell your wife she was right buddy.

Slow simmer

Crisp em up

Back in the bath with some kraut added

Ready to eat.. I skipped the mustard... Can't stand the stuff

That's the only way I will cook them from here on in.

Opps I forgot to tell the wife that LTBBQ determined she was correct. I'm sure it was just an oversight on my part ???

I still think the key is indirect so that they don't split. I too have had many a dry, split brat.

Nice job Scally!

I do my brats indirect. sometimes I cook em in boiling beer and onions and whenever I try to grill direct they split open and I am sad.

Those brats look perfect.  Nice of Mrs Pappy to show the right way.

Scally,
They look fantastic.  I like some mustard with mine, however.

Pappy,
You must be quite a "tap dancer".  Ever thought about running for Congress?
