Hi there! My name is Dick and I live in Gunnison, which is in the south central mountains at just under 8,000' altitude. The higher peaks in our county are over 14,000' and in the winter they send very cold air down their slopes that collects in the Gunnison river valley, on occasion reaching 45 below zero or more here. I've gotten to the point that I winter elsewhere as it is very hard to cook BBQ at that temp. Traveled all over Mexico for about 15 years, spending about 6 months there each winter, and now just go to the hill country of TX to Kerrville. Easier and better outdoor cooking there in the winter. Lots of good BBQ available as well. I cook on a Brinkmann 4 burner grill and just got a Charbroil SRG. Got one of the last ones apparently, as they have been discontinued, just like their forum. I had placed an order to Home Depot for the smaller one (12010550) for $169 delivered to my home. Guess they didn't have one left so they sent me the larger one. Works great and have cooked a pork roast and a chicken, and both tasted smokey and were moist and tender. Baby back ribs tomorrow. Followed lots of suggestions on the forum to get started. Looking forward to learning more from all of you.
