Well, never say never
« Reply #-1 on: June 30, 2016, 11:16:50 AM »
Well had to eat my words on the Grill2Go grill.   Kimmie's mom wanted steaks for Sunday dinner and I said I would be happy to cook them  :)

So she brings over two sirloin steaks and said here you go cook these up.  Well I'm not much for sirloin steak I'm more of a rib eye guy but I said I would cook them and I did.   I could use the SRG's because the grates were filthy from sitting up and I didn't want to pull the Rec-Tec out just for two little steaks, so I bit my tongue and pulled the G2G out for another try.  The weather was nice very little breeze so I figured all is good for the cook.  Somehow I should have known not to say I wouldn't use the G2G again

I fired it up and waited till the GrillGrates hit 500+ then I tossed there steak on and let it go just till about done then I tossed mine on (Kimmie was not eating)   I cooked their's to a nice 190 IT    ??? ??? ???   And mine was pulled at 130.  Not bad but a rib eye it is not

I may just keep that little grill for now and try to fix the issue of going out,  I'll post what I do

I remember, I even cut a hole in the lid to vent the air when closing and even keep it open when cooking.

Thinking of adding a skirt to the low vent plate to see if that would work.  I really want to keep the grill just tired of the fight

Tom & Pam are we talking the same grill from CB This one is my version http://www.walmart.com/ip/Char-Broil-48-TRU-Infrared-Grill2Go-X200-Portable-Gas-Grill/26413645

If we are they have been having a few regulator problems & I am not sure they have fixed them to this day. But my unit was a one of the early units which burns hotter then the new units......I like that my beast is not tamed.

The hotter the better for those steaks,  This grill Makes me not jump off a short building by not buying the Cook Air ??? ???

In fact my grates don't look like yours Tommy they are the IR ones Cb puts out

Looks like they stopped making the Grill2Go I have.

The one you own is nothing like the one I have.  Yours is the better camping model then the one I own.

Mine was called the Grill2Go Ice  it came with matching coolers

look here.  This one is the same model just different color

Seems CharBroil stopped making this grill, gee wonder why?

I just flip the little catch that holds the lid closed for transport up when using, it cracks the top just enough to prevent the problem. Unfortunately the legs failed sometime ago, so my ICE doesn't get much use anymore.

I've tried keeping the lid open in front ... I didn't use foil, but a piece of wood about the size of a thumb.  No dice, still went out.

These things should have been recalled ... they are a serious safety hazard.
