Butt, it's Sunday!
« Reply #-1 on: December 02, 2012, 10:29:21 AM »

So what.   ;)

Poke butt, frozen solid.  Some Salt Lick Clone w/ some chicken rub cut in.  And a cold bottle of Sriracha.

My Chinese butt blaster is warming up.

Sentry is on point.

Backed down to 250* and here we go.    Shooting for a 6-7PM finish time.  (hopefully 6, so we can have some for dinner)

BBL.

Do you purposely put the butt on frozen to keep the temps down in the pit so the unit will smoke more initially??

No, I just forgot to take it out of the freezer last night.   :D

I've done quite a few like this, and it doesn't add much time to the cook...

Could've tossed the ribs in with the butt!!  Noah, told me a trick he uses in competitions is too always hang a 1/2 chicken with whatever type of meat your are cooking at the time.....says it gives the other meat a great flavor.........

I like to put meat cold, except for roasts, but I never heard of frozen.

I wanna see this.

I've got the Traeger running around 250* or so.    With that fan roaring away, it won't stay frozen for long.

I do butts this way, and turkey breast (boulder) roasts.

I've seen lots of Squirts cooks that started from a frozen state. Always turn out great!
