MAK 2 Star Pellet Grill Review
« Reply #-1 on: March 04, 2018, 12:37:08 PM »
It is time for a full review of the MAK 2 Star Pellet Grill and all the accessories that make the MAK the only cooker you need on your back patio.
I did contact MAK to see if it was acceptable to do a review on their Forum Sponsor Site and they said "Go For It"
This will be a very long ongoing review. The only part of this review that will have any sequence of events will be in the beginning.
We will cover the unpacking, the available accessories and then pretty much just cook away.
I really want to show how MAK can do it all. Grilling, smoking, baking, roasting, searing, flat top griddle cooking.
Sure we will do the obligatory tri-fecta: Brisket,Ribs and Shoulders, but that is just scratching the surface.
If it can be cooked in the kitchen, it can be cooked outside on the MAK. Doesn't everything taste better when it is cooked outside?
My beautiful wife Wendy will be involved in this review. She can cook and bake ladies and gentlemen. I have gone up 4 waist sizes in the last 3 years. She can bring it!!!
Wendy is going to include recipes and she is even going to do complete meals on the MAK.
Heck, MAK and all pellet grills can be operated by the lady of the house just as well as us guys.
We have many MAK owners that reside here and if I am out of wack on something, please let me know. However, this review is from the perspective of a guy that has never had a MAK before so new and or potential owners can bumble and stumble right along with me while I use and learn my MAK. So all comments and questions will be welcomed and appreciated. If I can't answer a question, all you MAK owners help me out. Mr. BBQ will be watching and helping as well.

This will be sort of a review that we can all join in and add to. Lets show the BBQ World why MAK is at the top of the food chain and why that is not going to change anytime soon.

Now I did mention that Wendy is gong to help in the review, but I do have to have my little helper add his knowledge and expertise.

That is right folks, Smoochy is on board for the MAK 2 Star review.........now where is he????
Looks like Smoochy is into it!!

Unpackaging to follow soon

So as you can see this pallet is packaged about as good as you can do it

American Made by American workers. God Bless the United States of America

Ok Smoochy lets get this sucker unpacked

The grill and all accessories are packaged perfectly. No internal damage. This pallet could've shipped back to Oregon and then back to Texas and be in great shape.

Before assembly it is important to lay all your parts out and make sure they are all there and you familiarize yourself with them.
MAK even includes a nice set of allen wrenches

Cut the bottom lid flaps on the box and lay it on the ground. Keeps any parts from getting scratched.

It is also very important to read your instructions before starting assembly.
Nice readers Smooch!!

Nice badging on the lid, lets get back to assembly

All done. What a beauty. The optional front shelf with towel hook is a must have accessory

I think Smoochy has a new favorite cooker

A few words about the assembly. You must have two people to assemble this grill. Everything is so solid and heavy, don't even think about going solo.

The fit and finish is impeccable. Everything lined up perfectly every step of the way.

The hardware is real nice. I used to deal with MS and NAS fasteners in the 80's and I know good hardware when I see it. MAK cut no corners on the nuts and bolts.

Instructions are clear and concise. Even setting the grill body on the leg assembly was easy. Everything just lined up in place. Talk about some tight tolerances.

Only thing I can say is have a helper with narrow fingers. There are some nuts you have to get in some spots that are challenging if you got chubby fingers.

Even doing the handles requires some nifty thin fingers. Maybe pre-threading some of those areas would be helpful. Like I said, thin fingers on your helper. :)

As the assembly progressed, I realized that this grill is built like a tank. Everything is super heavy duty.

I am going to have to leave this grill along with the house in my will. It is going to last that long!!

MAK grills are made to last.

I remember the day I saw the 1 star next to another MFG's pellet grill in a fireplace store in San Bernardino, California. I told the sales guy that the MAK makes the other grill look like a kids toy.......and that was from across the showroom.

This 2 star is as heavy duty and stout as I have ever seen. The auger looks like it is strong enough to dig for oil. Moving pellets is going to be a day off for it.

The quality just screams from the grill as it sets on my patio quietly, waiting to cook anything and everything.

......and we will do that but tomorrow, we are going to look at the Flame Zone and see how that works.

Yes... and there she is :). Super nice!! Just curious, did you toy with the idea of the front cabinet door. I did it and love it! Gives it a super finished look and makes for a nice place to hide stuff :)
