My name is Gustavo, but the few friends that I've got call me Gus. In the past year or so, I have started to get into BBQing more often. I started getting interested in smoking and started to look into pellet grills. However, I ended up buying a Pit Barrel Cooker after doing a lot of research and reading. This is my first charcoal/wood smoker, and I have never used charcoal before. I was skeptical about using this product, but I went ahead and gave it try.
Saturday, I smoked my first large smoked brisket. I used a random rub I had laying around and added a few more things to it. The hardest part was lighting up the charcoal. Thereafter, I went ahead and hung the brisket in the PBC and let it cook for about 5 hours. I was pretty impressed, and the brisket came out better than I thought. My wife liked it, but I know there is room for improvement. So, I did a Google search for BBQ/Smoke Forum and Let's Talke BBQ was at the top of the search. Here, I am ready to get educated on the proper smoking ways!!!
