Today's task...Part of what was in that big box......
The new stand, door and stainless tub..... other components from the old MAK will marry with more new ones to make for good times!
Hmmm, not *quite* a re-hab. More of a scavange some old parts and put it on a new skeleton.
One thing I was told was: “Don’t let the vents or holes get clogged or covered with foil.” That rule was definitely broke here.
I am pretty lazy and hate ... HATE ... cleaning the grill but dang MAK went out of their way to design it so you can easily remove parts w/o grating your knuckles or getting too filthy. We fight over cleaning the grill now.
We'll....let's review the history of the 2 Star.....:
When it was introduced, the "tub or belly was powder coated, and there were some issues with the powder coating failing....MAK offered to replace those for a number of years - with a stainless tub. Those days are past, but MAK still had one tub that I negotiated for. The stand is an update - tho not needed..but it affords me having the door on it.
Almost all of the original parts such as both the left and right sides of the grill ( pellet hopper, controller, auger, smoke box, hood, and stainless lids for pellet hopper and smoker box) will be re-used. So, it is far more than a parts scavenge. Because - again - it speaks to the upgradability of a MAK 2 Star.....and, besides...I have an idea for the old cart.....
