New from Indiana
« Reply #-1 on: November 11, 2019, 03:57:44 PM »
Hi,
My name is Bryan Grant and I'm new to the forum so here's my requested intro.

My wife and I have been living in Indianapolis for the last 3-years. Before moving to the midwest, I lived in Jacksonville, FL, so I’m still learning what actual seasons are all about up here.

At any rate, I found the forum while looking for info on the Charbroil Big Easy Smoker, Roaster, and Grill. I don't actually own one yet, but will likely be ordering one later this week after reading lots of reviews and how much many of you guys seem to like it. I'll probably do a test cook or two and then make Thanksgiving the first big meal I do with it.

I'm definitely someone who likes to constantly tweak and adjust, so I liked seeing reference to lots of tips, tricks, and modifications as I browsed the discussions. I'm sure I won't be able to leave mine stock for too long, although I have seen recommendation in my browsing to wait until I see what it can do out of the box first, which seems like great advice.

I've never had experience with smoking, although it's always something I've wanted to try. The fact that a hybrid like this also seems to be able to do other things makes it seem like a good place to start (and an easier sell to my wife, haha)

Looking forward to getting involved in the community and picking the brains of some of you guys who have already put in some time with these. I'm sure with my Thanksgiving Turkey cook coming up, I'll have lots of questions. I'll try not to bother you all too much though, haha.

Thanks for the warm welcome,

I’ve definitely got a few “getting started” questions, but before I fire them off, should I just keep the discussion going here, or start a post in the Big Easy/SRG section?

Just want to make sure I’m following best practices.

Welcome from South Alabama. I have the original The Big Easy and love it. If it ever dies I might get an SRG.
