Just looked it up with the link you provided. Looks like it should work as long as the fan is not a cheesy cheap one that doesn't blow anything.

It looks like you still use paper to start it, but a detachable fan stokes it so it's ready in less time.

If you watch the video, when they lift it to dump the coals, you can see what looks like ash from the paper used to start it.
