"Smokehouse" Garlic Bread
« Reply #-1 on: May 27, 2013, 09:47:23 PM »
This is a rough recipe of the famous smokehouse garlic bread.

Buy some boxes of Kraft Mac n Cheese, original. We want just the cheese sauce mix packet out of it...I think we usually use two for a loaf of bread.

Grab a loaf of fresh baked French bread, slicing it in half length wise. Melt down a few sticks of butter and spread on the bread. Sprinkle the cheese mix packets over the bread, don't be too shy. Get some Parmesan cheese and lightly sprinkle over the bread. Be sure to stay light with the Parmesan. We just want a little bit.

Broil the bread 'till it's nice and brown on top. It should form a nice crust.

That's it! Play with it to your liking. That cheese sauce mix is awesome.

I wonder if you can buy just the cheese sauce mix from Kraft somehow...

Going to have to give this a try Eric.

I have seen the mix on amazon. It ends up being about the same price to buy the boxes of Mac.

I like it.  I can always use the noodles for some butter/garlic macaroni.

You can use the macaroni and some Elmer's Glue to make funny faces on construction paper  ::)

Update: I found this.  I'm curious to try it.

1 loaf of sourdough bread, sliced in half
1 stick butter
2 teaspoons freshly chopped garlic
1 pkg. (1/3 cup) Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Powder Packet
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Melt butter, sauté garlic and let set overnight at room temperature. Melt it down again, brush evenly over loaves. Take Kraft Macaroni and Cheese powder. Add in Parmesan. Coat the bread w/ a thin layer to cover. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 5 minutes, then Broil bread for 30 seconds, rotating evenly. Slice and serve.
