Grilled Pork steaks--- Instant Gourmet vs Fine Swine and Bovine rub
« Reply #-1 on: March 18, 2012, 11:40:51 PM »
I never cooked pork steaks before so I thought I'd try them.  I figured since I was doing them I'd try a test with Instant Gourmet and Fine Swine and Bovine.  Both were cleaned and dried then put in the fridge for 1.5 hrs with rub on them

I placed them on the Grill 2 Go and seared them.

Here is another shot of them after I turned them. Instant Gourmet on the left and Fine Swine and Bovine on the right

And here is the money shot

Kimmie and I both agree they were great but one had to win and that one for us was the Fine Swine and Bovine. Not to take away from the Instant Gourmet cause it's a great rub but the Fine Swine and Bovine has that extra kick to it that we like

Have you a recipe for it Ahron? That would be great!

yes it is easy in a mortar you put 6 cloves of garlic tsp  of salt and you mash the garlic (the salt uses as an abrasive)
when you get a smooth paste you start adding water and mixing till you get a runny  paste .that it

OK there will be one, as soon as I get more Fine Swine and Bovine in.

Really Phil your rub is outstanding but the rub from Tim adds that something of heat/sweet on pork that yours leaves out.  Not knocking yours no any means cause yours is killer on yardbird and noodles something the others I've tried can't say.

Now if you add heat/sweet to yours it might help but it would change the overall taste of the Instant Gourmet and I would like that it's to good on it's own

I agree, I just wanted to see how the Swine rub would be against the Instant Gourmet.   Both are great in their own way.   Remember I never cook pork steaks before so I was not sure what kinda seasoning  to use and this test gave me what I needed to know.

Phil, Tee didn't pay me to use his stuff he just had to tolerate me at the GA gathering and put up with me for a few months I was out of work. You Phil got off easy just sending the Instant Gourmet  ;D ;D ;D ;D

My Romanian grandma made that..must be why I do so much gahhlick..She just smashed the gahhlick and then rubbed it with the salt for further smashing. I even grow my own. Apple isn't too far from the tree.  Pammie  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.
