A pit barrel cooker is a vertical drum smoker based on a 30 gal. Barrel.
To compensate for the smaller size the meat is hung on hooks allowing more product to cook than grids would.
The food cooks directly over the charcoal without a heat shield. The cooker is preset to run 290F + - .
The construction is well made with heavy duty parts.
Part of the appeal is its idiot proof, light charcoal , wait , hang meat , pull off cooked meat!
Also some cookers who have moved on to more sophisticated cookers have forgotten just how good meat cooked over charcoal with all the drippings being vaporized is!
