Jack Daniels wood chips in the PBC?
« Reply #-1 on: April 14, 2016, 11:15:44 AM »
I've read a few reviews on various sites praising Jack Daniels wood chips for the flavor that they impart in  meat. Has anyone has tried this before? If so, which common BBQ wood would you say the Jack Daniels wood chips remind you of?

Thanks in advance

I have tried the pellets from Jack Daniels but not the chips.  If I'm correct the pellets are from the charcoal they use to make the whiskey and the chips are from the oak barrels they age it in

The chips are good. They also have a briquette that is infused with wood along with chunks in the bag. A little might go a long ways in the PBC....

Smart move smoke  :D :D          I'm going to look for these chips here in town.  Have a breakfast dinner coming up Saturday for an early birthday cook for Kimmie and would love to try them.

Wal-Mart has them at least they do around here.  They are great to throw a few in the gasser to add a touch of smoke...
You can also char them up a little and put a couple three in your moonshine. It will smooth it down very nicely.

I've used the chips on a normal weber kettle and I really liked them. I was surprised at the flavor they imparted.

Jack Daniels wood chips and pellets are oak and have a pungent almost vinegar-like smell.  They add a nice hint of the warm-mellow caramel notes that you normally associate with Jack Daniels to the meat, both in smell and taste.

I like them best with pork and steaks.
