I have been working at my current position for 7 years and 8 months, to the day, and tomorrow I start a new position. It is the same organization but a different department. It is a promotion and completely different from what I’ve been doing 20 something years. I will be in a supervisor role and no longer a technician. I will be learning a new application as well as becoming the technical manager of the application and I will have 23 under me that know their stuff. Remember, you don’t have to be the smartest one but you need to surround yourself with smart people. Luckily, I know most everyone and so far I have received nothing but great reaction, even from others that interviewed and did not get the promotion.

Thanks everyone. Just got done ironing some shirts and picking out a couple of ties. I hope they don't flap too hard in the wind while ridding the Harley
-
Congrats Rad, may your tie never flap in the wind!
-
A tie, oh my. I was proud when I got a job where I had to wear a coat and tie every day, but was really glad when I was able to take it off. Now I hate the days I have to wear socks and my wife keeps fussing at me and asking if I have underwear on.
-
Very cool congrats
-
Congrats! Your are correct, get some real smart folks under you
-
Congrats time for more cooking stuff
-
Congrats, Rad!! Enjoy your new job. Celebrate at home with a special meal, cooked by you, of course.

The secret to leadership is to make each one feel important and the more people you get in the boat with you, the less likely they are to drill a hole in it.

Congrats on the promotion! I hope all goes smoothly for your first day.
-
Congratz on the promotion! Taking a step up is a double edged sword however, more responsibility with less reward.

Congrats RAD! Nicely done - hard work rewarded

Super good job RAD, Hope you didn't tell the wife about the pay raise ;)
-
So, how was the first day?
-
Congrats on the new position Rad!
-
First couple of days have been like drinking from a fire hose :o My new guys have welcomed me and have told me they are glad I got the job based on what they have seen about my leadership ability throughout the years. They are excited to start working with me and me with them. A couple of my close advisors said I am a lot more aggressive then the last supervisor and that is what they needed.
There are lots of moving parts and so much supervisor training, lots of training ???
Oh, so far I love it. This is what I’ve been groomed for over the years.
-
Glad to hear it's going so well! Sure you'll get into the swing of everything before too long-- the first few days are usually pretty intense with new positions!
Congratulations!
