Again CT wins first! ;D
But the best pies are on the coast of the USA based on these people.....Most in NY

While I agree that Pepe's pies are great, ( I have eaten there - and the clam pie is unbelievable...) I am always suspect of reviewers from one small geographic area proclaiming that most of the best in any category is in their region.
Let's face the facts. Regional tastes vary. I do not like a deep-dish "Chicago" pizza...But - obviously, many in that region do. So, if a reviewer - from Chicago and "of " Chicago heritage reviewed a lot of pizzas from all over the USA....What region do you think his tastes would be skewed toward as..."best"?
FWIW - I love NYC - specifically Brooklyn pizza. But I am an anomaly in several respects..... :D
I would like to see more of these reviews done based on a trans-regional committee so that there are some regional tastes represented. Make sense?

Besides New York, do you think many of the voters(writers) were from New Haven?

I agree Tee. I was in NH. during my college days & would eat or try to eat from a pizza place called Atlas...............It was as bad a pizza as you could make.eat (in my eyes) but the people of the town loved it. They may have not liked Pepe's pizza at all..........I got to say that I am very happy with NY & CT pizza...I will add in NJ also.

The best pizza I have had was in Monte Verde, Costa Rica . This was 16 years ago before the tourist traps moved in like they are now. There were only two or three restaurants there. I don't remember the name but part of it was "----- Chicago style pizza". It was cooked in the big brick dome ovens. (Most food down there was at the time).
It was not deep dish, but it was excellent.
