Our local Big R store has "dusty dales bbq blend" pellets 40lb for $8.99. I have never used these pellets so I can't say if they are good or bad. Description says its a blend of hickory, oak, cherry, and maple. I will be giving this a try.

never heard of that brand before. I like the blend and the price is insane. I would get a bag and try them out right quick. If you like them I would go back and purchase all they got. Great way to stock up.

Go for it! Give 'em a try. The brand is an unknown, however.
In the world of pellets there are two kinds. One is "heating" pellets and they are relatively cheap because they are used to produce heat and heat only. They can be made of anything that will burn and it isn't unusual for them to contain compressed paper, paint, tiny bits of metal fasteners, and lots of other stuff you wouldn't burn to cook over. The other kind are "cooking" pellets and they are made from the manufactuer's careful blend of flavor and aroma producing woods. These are more expensive to make. It is always best to know what you are buying and using in your cooker.

Hub is wise. The price of those for 40 lbs is close to what you would pay for heating pellets. However these are branded as BBQ pellets.
I would grab a home-boy and take him along and have him help you load up all the bags they have at that price!!!

Here is the outfit that makes them. The cooking pellets are down at the bottom
