We have a dance hall here in New Braunfels that has a long history. They serve drinks and bring in bands, country western singers and a variety or other music makers on weekends. It's called Gruene Hall (pronounced Green). Captain Jack probably knows about this place and has been there. There is something going on every Friday and Saturday night.
They have had a number of notable folks perform there over the last several months including the Bacon Band, which features the actor Kevin Bacon, and most recently on Saturday Todd Rundgren. I do not know if you folks remember him, he is 65 years old and puts on a nice show and full of energy. We went last Saturday night. We waited for him to come out after the show and here is a picture of my wife, Caye and Todd.

Todd is a very nice, down to earth fellow. His wife was there as well. He shared that he is a grandfather and his Sunday stop was to be with family.
If you are ever in the area, and you are looking for something to do on a Saturday night, find out what is going on at Gruene Hall. At minimum, they have a Country Western band, and you can do some drinking and dancing.

I always thought Gruene Hall was in Gruene until my last visit there about 5 years ago when I saw that New Braunfels had expanded to surround it. Regardless, it's still a great joint and (at about 135 years old) one of the few places still around that's almost as old as I am.
