When I was on the BDS forum, there was lots of high praise for the Stubbs brand!
-
You'd think that the instructions on the bag for using starter fluid would simply read, "Don't!" Gawd, that stuff is awful!

Jack
Can you give us a comparison between the Stubbs - and regular compressed charcoal
-
I think it's equal to Kingsford

I haven't tried the Kingsford Hickory briquets yet

Stubbs is very good and if you have a Trader Joe's near you (I don't -- have to go to STL) their house brand is also very good (made by Rancher -- exact same stuff in their bag).
However, that's just my own confusing unfiltered opinion.
Please wait for a proper and correct interpretation before making any rash charcoal decisions.
Awrighten.

Stubb's is good stuff. It is our number 3 seller at work. Kingsfords regular, Cowboy and then Stubb's

We all know whats #1 Thanks Ron Sometimes we are limited to whats available locally. I used to special order lump because it's hard to find consistently here in the Valley. Kingsford is all over the place and rightfully so !!

Smoke,
The Restaurant Depot carries Royal Oak lump charcoal. And it's not the imported stuff, it's made and bagged here in the US. The price is about 10 bucks for a 20lb bag. I use it in my BGE. I use Kingsford, Rancher or Stubbs in my Webers and NBBD (depending on which sale I stocked up at). And I use pellets in my Traeger. I also have about fifteen 20lb propane tanks (for my Brinkman All-In-One, my Weber Qs, and my turkey fryer) that I got off Craigslist (they were 12 bucks each and they were full). I always like to keep a supply of each type of fuel on hand. I do a lot of outdoor cooking.

I'm running low on the lump charcoal and will be picking up more this week. If you need some, let me know. The Restaurant Depot is near your house and I can drop some off.
