Has anybody tried hanging whole fish in the PBC?
-
No, but you may have to hang it tail-up! Thicker end down. :-\
-
You might want to use a treble hook. :P
-
I have never seen anyone do it myself.
Curious to see how it comes out.

LOL! I see what you did there.

Looks like I'll be the guinea pig. Lemme get whiskeyed up first. I'll report back.
-
It didn't quite work out. Found the snapper in chilling in the charcoal basket. I think I'll either use the Weber rib rack on the grate our hang the rib rack.

Not sure how this happened coz the jaw bone was still intact.

Yep, should have used a treble hook. :P
-
Maybe hook it through both gills?
Or you could suspend it in a fish basket also.
-
I have another fish waiting to be experimented with. I think Hikerman is on to something with the treble hook.
Muebe, unfortunately I don't have a fish basket. I try to stay away from unitasking gadgets.

Wish I had seen this earlier. I tried a few years ago to hang trout in my bradley smoker. It don't matter what you do most will end up getting away from you and landing on the bottom. Seems fish meat is just to weak to hold any kinfd of hooks when it gets up to temp.

Fish is so delicate that most of the time it doesn't work out unless you use a hanging basket (someone else mentioned that) or cook it on the grill. It will be great either way! Thank you for the post, PBC Co.- Amber

Thanks for sharing this experiment with all of us. I was figuring to just use the grate and flip the fish once during the cook. When I don't feel like using the hooks I just set the meat on the cooking grate for a worry free cook and I get darn good results cause the cooking grate is in the "Sweet Spot" of the PBC........
-
Just my 2 cents worth, but if you would go to Wally World buy a few cheap cooking racks and make a basket I think you would have a winner.
Here is one I made for meatloaf, it is used in TBE

Thank you TMB. I'll try that.

I could easily cook the fish on the grate but there's no fun in taking the easy route. LOL!!

There you go, use a fish basket and hang it from the rod.
-
Something like this would work hanging in the PBC.

Thank you for the suggestions. Seems like fish basket thingy is the way to go.
