I found this snack at Walmart; dried okra! No slime here. They taste good to me. Too expensive though at $3.98 for this 4 oz. That's $16 a pound and I could eat this tub in one setting. Makes me wish I had a food dryer. Don

You may be surprised how easy it is to make a food dehydrator. Here are some links. If you are handy ( and I find that most cooks are... ;) ) you could make your own.

And - there is an Indian street food restaurant in Asheville NC that is rated as the best in the USA. One of their specialties are flash fried okra - that are cut lengthwise in thin strip on a mandolin, fried, then rolled in a very light sauce/glaze that tastes almost like it uses hoisin, soya and cumin. Incredible - "can't get enough" kind of snack food!
Might be a great LTBBQ project for us to figure out how to make these ;)

Somethings wrong with my mandolin,doesnt make a sound. But you can slice veggies on it,go figger. ::)

You can dehydrate in a home oven if it is capable of lower temps Don. Set it as low as possible and prop open the oven door. Then place a fan facing the oven door on low to create air movement in the oven and remove moisture.

I have not worked out a recipe Turtle but mustard, soy sauce, cumin garlic will be where I will start . I think this one of those that we may come up with several candidates for sauces between all of the talent on LTBBQ
