Glad you are OK and the insurance company settled quickly. In 2008, while away from home for 2 1/2 hours, someone broke into my house. The only thing stolen was a 38 revolver from my nightstand drawer. An 18 year old kid was arrested, tried, and convicted, but of course, the gun was not recovered. He got a 90 day sentence with probation and released for time served, since no one provided bail after his arrest. Three years later, the sheriff's dept. contacted me and said my gun had just been recovered during a homicide investigation. Was told that it would be returned after the trials of the six perps arrested for murder. All have been tried and convicted and two days ago I spoke with the district attorney requesting my gun. He says that it can't be returned until after all the appeals. The week after the break-in I had a monitored alarm system installed. Also replaced the gun and have a concealed carry permit.
