Soldier's silent night
« Reply #-1 on: December 07, 2014, 11:19:20 AM »
It is easy for the younger generation to forget the fallen heroes of the past that made it possible for all of us to enjoy the freedom of today.  On this day, in remembrance of Pearl Harbor, but  also in honor of all our men and women who serve

There is no sleep as deep and as shallow at the same time as that of the tired soldier.  I remember Christmas Eves in the paddies of Viet Nam and the mountains of Korea and on each the nights were so clear and brightly lit with stars that one almost could see the face of God as the night moved on.  You felt so insignificant in one way and so important in another.

The military goes out of its way to make Christmas as special as possible for its members both in the States and around the world.

Of all my Christmases in the military I always found soldiers who wanted to be home for Christmas, but never one regretted doing what he was doing that kept him away from home.
