LOL, It really is a funny story...

This happened down at the 2013 Fall Gathering in Georgia.  I had cured a picnic ham and put it on Tim's MAK to smoke overnight.  I set my alarm to get up early in the morning to check it, but Pam got up even earlier than I did to make some Scotch eggs, and needed the MAK.

Well, I didn't know this and you can imagine the look on my face when I opened the MAK to check on the ham, and... IT WAS GONE!!!  :o

I started looking around and saw NO sign of the ham nor anyone else!  A few minutes later Mike (HighOnSmoke) came in.  He had no idea what happened to the ham either, but helped me look... to no avail.   We looked everywhere we could think of, but that ham was nowhere to be found!

Well, after about 15 minutes of searching, and still no sign of the ham,  Pam walks into the kitchen area and says, "Oh it's over here in the microwave," where she'd moved it to keep it hot, so she could get the Scotch Eggs going!   :D

Of course all was forgiven and I have to tell you, we ate very well that morning: Scotch eggs, Latkes, sausage gravy, a fresh smoked Ham...  What a great memory that is for me!

Love ya Pammy!  :)

When we got home from church, I couldn't wait to slice into the Ham to see how it'd turned out. By then it was cooled down, but still warm and perfect for slicing.

The reveal...

I foresee some ham sammies in my near future.  YUM!!!

Thanks!

That looks absolutely wonderful!   I was afraid your story was gonna end with a dog getting to the ham after you said the backyard smelled so good.    Guess your yard is fenced well enough to keep out the dogs, and this thing was bigger than most cats.  They couldn't have hauled it off.   Did like the true story, however.
