They took my Ghee
« Reply #-1 on: June 10, 2015, 08:15:36 PM »
I am a fan of Amazon and the other day I did my regular 3 month border run. When i was coming back to Canada I handed them my bills and they stopped on my Ghee. Long story short they kept my Ghee but told me how to get a personal importers licence and then I could smuggle it in.

I make my own ghee..very easy to do.  I make 1 lb at a time.
Cut the butter into cubes and place in the saucepan. Heat the butter over medium heat until completely melted. Cook for about 10-15 minutes (this will vary based on how hot your stove is). Let cool slightly for 2-3 minutes and then slowly pour through the wire mesh strainer lined with several layers of cheesecloth. I store in Mason jar and it keep in frig for a long time or on counter for about a month. You can smell the nuttiness in it too..YUM.

I also make my own. Very easy.  I watch for a butter sale and when I can find a good price on unsalted butter stock up and make a bunch.

Of all things to take... yet TSA can't stop anything going through security at the airport. Shaking my head, yet not surprised.
