DeBuyer Skillet

Yep I finally broke down and bought a DeBuyer pan, a 10 inch skillet. I thought it might get here early enough I could get it seasoned and fry some jowl bacon in it for supper but it was too late. It is a pretty thing and can’t wait to try it out.

My wife and I very seldom pick out presents for each other on special occasions, we just get our own. I had ordered 4 things lately and they’re my Father’s Day gifts. The pan and some Blues Hog rub came today. I still have a thermopen and a Camp Chef single gas burner coming.

My only word of caution is to not go as crazy as I did when I seasoned my pans.  Check out my seasoning post.  I put too many layers of seasoning on my pans, initially.  A lot of the seasoning has come off the pan through use.  It kind of "flaked" off.  The seasoning shouldn't be "rushed" too much, IMO.  Good luck on the new pan.  I love mine.  I will never have to buy a coated pan that lasts a year or less again.  BTW, I love that chain mail cleaner to clean my pans.  It does a fantastic job.

Congratulations Don!  You will enjoy that pan more and more each time you use it.

Thanks for the tip! They must be different than CI the directions only say one seasoning before use. It is awful heavy though, almost as much as my CI. Don

They ARE heavy. Being simple, I simply followed DeBuyer's seasoning instructions. They worked well for me - first cooks worked well, and as the pan has been used and gets darker, they just get better.

It IS a beauty. I have a few now as I replace the "non-stick" and brand name pans. They are heavy (hold the temp) and oven proof. I even prefer them to my CI pans.
