Waddya guys think?

Had a 40 lb bag (opened of course) of mesquite lump setting out on the back deck and last night around 2 am the skies opened up and it poured 50 cent drops.

Is the lump still good if it drys out?  I know my KBB is toast...... :(

Good question Smoke, I don't know.    If you can get it dried out fast I would think you would be good

You could place it in a smoker on low heat and dry it that way ;)   Just a thought :)

Make sure its completely dry. A guy that builds tank smokers down here said he has seen where damp charcoal appeared to cause a heavy surface rust.   I've seen it in mine and I think that might be what caused it.
Takes a lot of elbow grease to get it off and the surface re-seasoned.
Keep in mind we have really high humidity down here and that may escalate the issue.  The news reported we were at 100% today. During the summer 90% + is common.

The Smoke needs a waterproof storage solution. Lot cheaper than 40 pounds of lump

Well we had a freak snow storm up here two nights ago and that stuck a fork in any plans of keeping my lump.

So, I got some new bags.......they are in the back of our Jeep until the weather straightens out....... 8)

I had a partial bag of KBB get a little wet because I left it out.

It just occurred to me to store my charcoal in my PBC. It should stay dry in there.

Of course I'll have to wait until the PBC cools off first....
