« Reply #-1 on: June 28, 2016, 08:06:18 AM »
Ok we are down at my neighbors and talking chicken. He is raving about a new toy he has The Big Easy® Oil-less Turkey Fryer. Anyway my Wife says I going to buy you one to which I say slow down honey I need to check with my team.

Ok team, which Inferred cooker should I be looking at?

Thanks,
CDN

Drew I used to have a Big Easy and loved it. Great chicken, turkey, and baked potatoes! But from what I understand the SRG may be much more versatile.  Hope this helps!

I have both & I almost always use the SRG.
As others say, "it is just more versatile".

On a side note I cooked chicken in the SRG a couple of nights ago, & before I realized it the IT had reached 212 F.
I figured it would be pretty dry, but actually it was as juicy as any I have ever cooked.
I don't think you can ruin chicken in an SRG (or a Big Easy)!!

Having said that, You will find a pretty big difference in the price of the two. If price is not a consideration, I suggest going with the SRG.

I have the TBE, before the SRG came out.  It works good - but it really depends on what you want to cook on it.  If you are sticking with smaller butts and turkey/ chickens - you would be fine with the TBE.  If you want to grill , smoke or whatever - SRG is the way to go.  It is on my short list of gear to buy (after the WSM).  I may even sell off the TBE to buy the SRG.....

Thank You Everyone the SRG it is. Most likely I will buy off Amazon.com just because it’s easier for me.

Any accessories I need to be looking at?

If you purchase from Amazon, look closely at what model they say they you will receive. They don't seem to be very clear whether the SRGs they are shipping are the latest models. And there price on them is not always the best. You might look at Walmart.com

I got my TBE before the SRG came out and it is still rocking along after many years. It cooks some great food. More than a "turkey fryer". I have four sets of trays and get four layers of wings in at a time, it makes the best wings in the world. My wife doesn't want a baked potato cooked any other way than in the Big Easy. I always cook a standing rib roast for all holidays best Prime Rib ever. It does great beef roasts and Boston Butts for pulled pork. That said, if my TBE ever bites the dust I will buy an SRG for sure, it does what TBE does and more.
