Braunschweiger, Limburger and Onion
« Reply #-1 on: August 15, 2016, 05:01:18 PM »
The power of suggestion! Gene (Hikerman) just posted about his liverwurst, limburger, and onion sandwich. I didn’t have the good brick limburger he used but had some of the spread.

When I went to the grocery this AM I bought some Oscar Myer’s braunschweiger; I had to have a sandwich! I had sweet Vidalia onions to use. For my lunch I spread a nice layer of limburger on a bun topped with slices of the braunschweiger,  a slice of onion and some Maille mustard. Rye would have been better but I had the buns to use.

That made for a nice lunch! Thanks for the idea Gene!

I love liverwurst & onion. I usually add a slice of tomato if I have it.
I'm not sure about the limburger though. I don't think V would have it in the house either.
She has a very sensitive nose. I have never actually tried it though!

Matter of fact I had liverwurst for breakfast this morning.  Hard to find Limburger around here, but when I visit family in the Cincinnati area I always stock up!  LOL

You won't catch me with less than a pound of liverwurst on any given week. I love that stuff.

Wrap it in lettuce with Havarti cheese and a dub of Dijon mustard. That's favorite lunch.

Just some ramblings circling 'round in my skull that I HAVE to get out:

1. How do you guys stay married? When I look at the bio chemical decomposition of the "funknaceous" ingredient list on this thread....I can only imagine that the stock valuations for the company that makes Lysol are going thru the roof - should anyone in that company read this thread..... Are you lucky enough to have wives with no hearing and no sense of smell? ( lucky@#$% IF YOU DO! ):D :D :D

2.Limburger....let's see...how to say this without offense...oh heck - that is not possible so here goes: It smells like the exit port of a mule that croaked over in the summer sunshine in Arizona @110F, and has been baked to perfection for about....4 days. :D :D :D

3.Liverwurst: Based on my very rudimentary understanding of biology - the liver is a filter. A trap for all of the chemicals, heavy metals, and "pollutants" that a ruminate - or a human for that matter - may consume. By choice or otherwise ;) ;D So - next time I crave....<ugh> liver...I will just go down to my shop, and pop the lid off my industrial vacuum, grab a big ole spoon and yell YUM! - while diving in. :D :D :D
BTW..notice they don't call it "liverBEST"..... :D :D :D

Sorry...I just couldn't help picking at you all a little. I suppose the above foods are why we all have a fishing or hunting trip that we take to escape the conventions of a gastro-intestanlly civilized society! :D :D :D :D  HOW did jalapeño pickled eggs not make the list? ;D :D 8)
